Hyderabad: A Nigerian student who was the alleged middleman in a job racket was arrested by the cyber crime police of Rachakonda.
Rachakonda cyber crime inspector D. Ashish Reddy said the fraudsters lured a 26-year-old software employee with a job in New York. The target had responded to an advertisement in an online job portal.
The fraudsters tricked him to deposit Rs 10 lakh in eight bank accounts over a period of 40 days. After realising that he was cheated, the victim approached the police.
During the investigation, the police found that Adedoja Oluwa-sola Isaiah, 32, kept the ATM cards linked to the bank accounts in which the victim deposited the money. When the Nigerian started withdrawing the money, police traced him to Dr A.S. Rao Nagar and took him into custody.
Isaiah came to India in August 2015 for graduation studies and confessed that he used to work for African fraudsters operating from Mum-bai and Delhi NCR on commission. He drew the money, take his cut and credit the rest to the accounts of the others.
