Bengaluru: The High grounds police have registered a case against a city based consultancy firm for cheating three people to the tune of Rs 59 lakh by promising medical college seats for their children.
Police said the victims, Rachana Rasheeda Begum from Secumderabad, Anitha Rani and Satish Kumar, said that Edwise Education situated on Cuningham Road had contacted them while they are searching for the consultancy firms to inquire for medical seats under payment quota.
The accused, Ankith Verma, assured them medical seats for a price of Rs 55 lakh and asked them to meet him at his office for further discussions.
The trio met Ankith Verma at his office on Monday and they made a part payment (while two of them paid Rs 22 lakh each, the third person made a payment of Rs 15 lakh).
Ankith took the cash and left the office, assuring them that he would call them the next day to inform them about the next step.
However on Tuesday they did not receive any call from Ankith. When the trio tried to contact him, his phone was switched off.
They then rushed to his office and found that it was locked. Realizing that they have been duped, the trio approached the police.
The police are now on the lookout for Ankith and his associates Rajeshwar and Santosh Raj who too are on the run.
