Hyderabad: Former techie held for drug trafficking

Based on a tip off, Police arrested Pawan Kumar from the Dilsukhnagar bus stop on Wednesday.

Hyderabad: A Kondapur resident was arrested by Special Operations Team of LB Nagar police for his involvement in drug trafficking. The man was identified as K.A. Pavan Kumar Reddy, 34.

“Pavan Kumar is a BTech graduate and has worked in IT companies in Hyderabad and Delhi. After resigning his job in 2014, he started his own business and often used to visit a pub in Jubilee Hills, where he got addicted to cocaine,” a police official said.

He went to Goa along with the other addicts that he met in that pub in November 2016 and there he met a Nigerian, Yoan. Yoan introduced him to another Nigerian native, Cosmos, who stays in Sun City of Hyderabad, he said.

“Pavan Kumar gets cocaine from Yoan and Cosmos and supplies it to customers,” the police officer said.

“Kumar was an event organiser and used to organise events here in the city, Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. He came in contact with models and started human trafficking and supplying drugs to them too. Apart from this, he was running a restaurant at Tolichowki under the name ‘Varshita’,” the officer said.

Based on a tip off, Police arrested Pawan Kumar from the Dilsukhnagar bus stop on Wednesday.

LB Nagar police booked cases against him under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and sent him for judicial remand. The case is under investigation, an official of the LB Nagar police said.
