Bengaluru: Two arrested for selling prohibited hashish oil
Bengaluru: The Suddaguntepalya police have arrested two people from Kerala who were selling rare and prohibited hashish oil.
The accused have been identified as Johnson Joseph, 31, of Kannur district and Biju Abraham, 38, from Idukki. Both worked in rubber farms in Kerala.
Police said that the duo was arrested near Tavarekere bus stop when they were trying to sell 6.561 kg of hashish oil, also called as ganja oil.
Hashish oil is a prohibited drug substances that is in liquid state.
The oil is produced by mixing ganja leaves with alcohol. The mix is ground and the resulting liquid is boiled till the watery substance evaporates and only the sticky oil remains. The oil is then filtered to remove remnants of ganja leaves.
“To produce one kilo of hashish oil, six kg of ganja leaves will be used and this is mainly produced at hilly regions in Kerala. Users apply this oil on cigarettes and smoke. As it is easy to be use, it is preferred by the youth. They charge a huge price for a small quantity of hashish oil,” the police added.
