Bengaluru: Four burglars held for stealing cable worth Rs 18 lakh
Bengaluru: The City Market police have arrested four burglars who had stolen cable boxes worth Rs 18.62 lakh from an electrical shop in Chickpet nearly a fortnight ago.
The accused have been identified as Ratan Lal, 32, of Dayanandanagar in Sriramapura, Prem Ram, 27, of Chikkabannavara near Hesaraghatta Main Road, Ramesh, 31, of Kurubarahalli and Babu Lal, 25, of Dayanandanagar in Sriramapura.
Police said the theft took place at Khushbu Electricals located on BVK Iyengar Road in Chikpet on July 17.
The shop owner, B. Lakshminarayana, had closed the shop in the afternoon on the previous day and the theft came to light when he went to open the shop the next morning.
The miscreants had used a duplicate key to open the centre lock of the rolling shutter and broken the side locks of the shutter to gain entry into the shop. They had escaped with 96 boxes of Finolex cables and Rs 4.50 lakh in cash kept in the cash box.
“After a complaint was filed by Lakshminarayana, a team was formed to nab the miscreants and based on various clues, the accused were arrested. The cable boxes were recovered intact from them,” the police added.
