Kurnool: Three killed as bus rams into truck

Ullindakonda sub-inspector G. Gopal Reddy said that a bus belonging to SRS travels going from Hyderabad to Bangalore hit a stationary lorry.

Kurnool: Three people including two drivers in a bus were killed on the spot and eleven other passengers were injured when the bus hit a stationary lorry loaded with iron rods in the early hours of Thursday. The incident happened at Chinna Tekur village on the outskirts of Kurnool city.

Ullindakonda sub-inspector G. Gopal Reddy said that a bus belonging to SRS travels going from Hyderabad to Bangalore hit a stationary lorry. The protruding iron rods pierced into the bus, killing drivers Chandrasekhar and Krishna, the SI said. A passenger named Satish was also killed in the incident, he said.

The police said that eleven persons received severe injuries and were admitted at Kurnool Government General Hospital. The condition of the injured is critical, said the SI.

Sub-inspector Gopal Reddy said that the driver of the lorry was not traced. The lorry belongs to Karnataka state, he said.

He said that no driving papers were registration certificate found in the lorry . Based on the registration number we are proceeding to identify the owner and the driver, the SI said.

District Collector S Satyanarayana visited the hospital and arranged for medical care to the injured.
