Hyderabad: Four who robbed fruit trader held, gold seized
Hyderabad: The LB Nagar police apprehended four persons from the city on Thursday for robbing a fruit businessman. The police recovered 20 tolas of gold, four mobile phones, and a bike which had been used by the accused to execute the offence. The accused were remanded to judicial custody.
The victim, C Chandrashekar, 30, a fruit businessman in LB Nagar, was attacked by two persons at about 11.45 pm on May 20, while on his way back home in Hasthinapuram. The duo intercepted Chandrashekar, attacked him, snatched a gold chain he was wearing, and sped away following which, Chandrashekar lodged a complaint with the police on the same day.
The LB Nagar police said that after analysis of the clues, including the CCTV footage obtained from the site, they identified the suspects to be known offenders namely D. Surender, 29, and N. Anil Kumar, 25, residents of Meerpet, who had previously been charged for robberies and murder in Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda police commissionerates.
Upon questioning the duo, the police found that two more persons V. Mahesh, 21, and Syed Basha, 27, were also involved in the conspiracy. “During his visit to the weekly market at Meerpet, Mahesh noticed Chandrashekar was wearing gold chains and informed Basha, Surender, and Anil. Mahesh and Basha observed Chandrasekhar on the day of the offence and kept their partners Surender and Anil Kamur — who attacked and robbed him — updated about his movements,” the police said.
The verification of their antecedents and further questioning revealed that Mahesh and Anil were involved in the robbery in LB Nagar while Surender and Basha were involved in another case of robbery.
