Hyderabad: Madhapur police on Wednesday nabbed three persons for allegedly cheating about 200 B.Tech students of Rs 3 crore with fake promises of jobs. They allegedly asked each victim for about Rs 1.75 lakh.

Police said Panuti Srinivas alias Karthik set up Code Lab International Pvt Ltd in September 2017 at Madhapur. As he had faced cases, he appointed the cousins Satish Kumar, 25, and Santoshi Kalyani, 26 as directors. Satish was a victim of a similar job fraud. They offered free cab, free food and Wi-Fi services to employees.

Madhapur inspector K. Manmadha Rao said they would cheat candidates by offering experience letters and help them get jobs in established IT firms.

Mr Rao said mastermind Panuti Srinivas had earlier worked with an IT firm. He was involved in a matrimony fraud where he borrowed a total of Rs 17 lakh from different girls who he met after uploading his matrimonial profile. He also got a consumer loan in June 2016 by providing fake documents. He also invested Rs 80 lakh in a casino in Goa, police said. Police moved in after receiving a complaint from one Ratna Prakash on May 16. Following this, another 65 victims said they were cheated by the trio.
