Bengaluru: Woman ends life after poisoning her children

Meena had married to Kumareshan, a native of Tamil Nadu, eight years ago.

Bengaluru: A 29-year-old woman poisoned her two children before consuming the same in Ramamurthy Nagar police station limits on Friday.

While the mother, identified as Meena, and her four-year-old daughter Saguna died, seven-year-old son Charan is being treated at a hospital and his condition is critical.

Meena had married to Kumareshan, a native of Tamil Nadu, eight years ago. The couple moved to Bengaluru a few years ago and Kumareshan worked as a daily wage worker.

Kumareshan left for work around 10 am on Friday. But when he came home for lunch at around 1:30 pm, he found his wife and two children lying unconscious and froth coming out of their mouths.

With the help of neighbours Kumareshan rushed the trio to a hospital, but the doctor declared Meena and Saguna as brought dead.

After Ramamurthy Nagar police got an alert, the police rushed to the spot and conducted a spot mahazar. Preliminary investigation revealed that Meena may have mixed poison in juice and given to her children and later consumed the same. The police said they have not found any poison bottle from the spot.

The reason for suicide has not yet been ascertained. The police registered a case and are waiting Charan to recover to question him.
