Hyderabad: In another case of negligence by a builder, a material carrying bucket fell from the third floor of an under construction building in Bandlaguda killing a woman labourer and injuring another worker. The mishap occurred when the cable carrying the bucket broke. Police registered a case against the building owner and the contractor. The victims are Vallapu Padma, 28, and Kommu Salamma, 30.
On Monday morning construction was going on at the site in Indraprastha colony in Bandlaguda under LB Nagar police station limits. Around five workers were at the site. While others were mixing the material, Salamma went to the third floor and started the machine. They loaded the material in the bucket and the bucket was taken up. Padma was arranging the material on the ground.
“We were all mixing cement and suddenly we heard a loud noise. The rope had got cut and the bucket fell on Padma. She collapsed with a deep head injury. Salamma also lost her balance and fell down from the third floor,” worker Ramalingaiah who was at the site said. Padma died on the spot while Salamma suffered fractures and is admitted to hospital where doctors said she is out of danger.

We are checking if the building had permission,” LB Nagar SI G. Sudershan said. Padma had been working at the site since a month. Salamma and her husband Rama-swamy are guards.
