Hyderabad: Troubled by the harassment of his classmates, a first year Intermediate student committed suicide at Nalgonda on Monday. The student, S. Shekhar, 17, who called his father Madhanachary a few hours before committing suicide said that he was unable to bear the harassment from classmates and was going to end his life. S. Shekar, hailing from Siddipet district was studying at the Gurukul College in Sarwail mandal in Samsthannaayanpuram. On Monday at around 5 am, he called his father and told him that his friends were harassing him, and that he had decided to end his life. Madhanachary told him not to do that and that he would come to the college. Madhanachary called principal Raghava Rao and informed him about Shekhar, who alerted hostel staff, but by then Shekar had left the college.

In the next two hours he spoke to his father several times. Despite his father pleading with him Shekar consumed pesticide and ended his life. Around 7 am his phone stopped working. Around 7.15 am farmers found him lying unconscious and called the last dialled number from his mobile and alerted his father. Police registered a case of suspicious death and launched an investigation.
