Pune: A security guard has been arrested in the murder of a 24-year-old software professional at her workstation in Infosys Software Technology Limited here on Sunday evening.
Though the motive is yet to become clear, investigations revealed that the accused Bhaben Bharali Saikiya, 27, was ogling at Rasila Raju, the deceased, when she was working on Sunday. Rasila said she would complain to his superiors.On the pretext of pleading with her not to complain, he entered her workstation and allegedly strangulated her with a computer cable.

The police has booked Saikiya under section 302 (murder) of the IPC. The court has granted five days police custody of the accused. The murder took place in Rajiv Gandhi IT Park, Phase II in Hinjewadi, Pune.
Rasila hails from Mulgoan, Ozompoil, Paimbra in Kozikode district of Kerala and was living as a private paying guest in Hinjewadi Phase I.

Meanwhile, working fast based on clues, the police nabbed Saikiya at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in Mumbai in the wee hours of Monday. The accused was about to flee to Assam from CST, sources said. Saikiya hails from Assam and stays in Hinjewadi Phase III.
Ganesh Shinde, deputy commissioner of police, Pune, said, “According to the FIR filed by Abhijit Kothari, team lead of the project on which Rasila was working, Rasila along with eight members from Pune and seven from Bengaluru was working on the project. The project required employees to be present 24/7. On Sunday, Rasila was on duty from Pune and two colleagues from Bengaluru were working on the project (coordinating with each other through a computer software). Rasila entered the workstation on the ninth floor of the company building at 2 pm. By 3 pm a few colleagues left the office and Rasila was alone in the Pune office after 3 pm,” he said. Rasila was found lying there in a pool of blood. She was taken to a hospital, where she was declared brought dead.
