Jishnu Pranoy's mother flays CM Pinarayi Vijayan
KOZHIKODE: Mahija, the mother of Jishnu Pranoy who was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Nehru College Pampady, has come down heavily on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan over his lackadaisical attitude. In an open letter to him, the former SFI worker lamented that he didn’t have the courtesy to visit or call her though he had been to Kozhikode and Kannur recently. “Several persons had visited and pacified us including LDF, UDF and BJP leaders, ministers and MLAs. I had sent three letters to you. But not even a single reply has been received,” she said.
She alleges that the conspiracy of the college management led to Jishnu’s death as he organised students through social media for the SFI strike protesting exam postponement. In the letter, she details the alleged intervention of the management in destroying evidence and misleading probe. “It is said that Jishnu hung himself using toilet towel. But the towel was not handed over to forensic surgeons during the autopsy. The postmortem was done by a PG student violating all norms. The PG student’s version to police contradicts his notes in the postmortem report,” Ms Mahija said.
According to her, Nehru College vice-principal, physical education teacher, another teacher and PRO brutally thrashed her son inflicting serious injuries. “Even after weeks, you have not taken any action against them. Neither against cops who tried to derail the probe nor the doctors of Thrissur Medical College,” she said. She urged Mr Vijayan to check the Facebook page of Jishnu so that he can be convinced that it was he along with Che Guevera who were his heroes.
Quick action was taken in the case, responds CM Pinarayi Vijayan
In a post on his official Facebook page, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the government had taken quick action on a complaint filed by Jishnu’s family. “Direction had been given to the state police chief to conduct an inquiry and file a report on the matter soon after getting the complaint of Mahija Ashokan, mother of Jishnu,” the post said. Mr Vijayan said that it was now the duty of the state police chief to respond to the complainant after receiving the probe report.
The Chief Minister’s office (CMO) also clarified that the investigation is progressing. CMO also said the government had taken very favourable approach towards Jishnu’s family. The cabinet meeting, held just five days after the incident, had sanctioned Rs 10 lakh as financial aid to the family, it said adding that the amount was handed over to the family by excise minister T.P. Ramakrishnan.
