Hyderabad: The Amazon staffer who was assaulted by his junior while at work over a month ago was declared dead by doctors at Yashoda Hospital on Sunday.
Vollala Shivaram, 33, a supervisor at Amazon Seller Services at Tolichowki, was attacked by delivery executive Muneer after an argument at work on November 20.
Shivaram fell on a table and was injured. He managed to get to his hostel in Shaikpet, but later that night he complained of severe pain. He was taken to a hospital by his roommate and had been in the hospital ever since.
His post-mortem examination at Gandhi Hospital showed that Shivaram died as a result of an injury to the head. His body has been taken to Godavarikhani for the last rites, said his father Shekaraiah, 62.
Muneer was booked by the Golconda police in November and was later released on bail.
On December 5, Mr Shekaraiah spoke to the media regarding the attack. He asked the police to change the IPC section against Muneer to attempt to murder from assault. He requested Amazon to take care of the medical expenses.
Shivaram was declared dead at 4 am on Sunday. Mr Shekaraiah said the hospital bill was Rs 36 lakh and the company had paid Rs 2.5 lakh. He had borrowed the rest of the money.
Golconda station hou-se officer K Chandra-shekar Reddy said, “We investigated the case as soon as we got a complaint from the victim’s father on November 22. As the matter was referred to the court, we will take legal advice and proceed.” He said the case would be altered to one of murder. He said justice would be done to Shivaram.
