Visakhapatnam: Dwarkanagar police have arrested a non-teaching staff member Venkata Naidu of Sanjeevi Junior College on Rama Talkies Road after a student doing her intermediate accused him of sexual misconduct.
The student, who is a minor, said Venkata Naidu had initiated contact with her via Instagram. Subsequently, he repeatedly sent sexually explicit content and behaved inappropriately with her.
Upon the victim's complaint, Dwarkanagar police acted swiftly and registered a case under various sections of Indian Penal Code, including 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 354A (sexual harassment), and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult modesty), apart from sections 11, 12, and 21.
It is said the inter student had been similarly harassed by another staff member. However, this aspect remains unconfirmed by police.
