Hyderabad: A moving car went up in flames on the busy Patny flyover near Secunderabad Parade Grounds on Tuesday morning, creating panic among the commuters and causing a road block.

The driver escaped unhurt. Officials from the fire control suspect the car had mechanical snags. “The fire station was close by and a fire tender rushed to the spot. It took time to reach the flyover due to traffic congestion. The flames were doused in 10 minutes,” fire officials said.

The officials said there were no casualties or injuries as the driver spotted the smoke and exited from the car. Meanwhile, motorists panicked at the sight of the automobile in flames. This led to a traffic jam.

The cause of the fire has not yet been ascertained. The police promptly removed the car from the flyover and restored the traffic.
