Rail India Technical and Economic Service Limited official booked by CBI
Hyderabad: The CBI has booked a case of cheating and under the Prevention of Corruption Act against an official of the Rail India Technical and Economic Service Limited (RITES) on Monday for cheating job seekers by falsely promising to provide them jobs in the Railways under the chairman’s quota.
The accused, Ravindranath Pandey, allegedly collected around Rs 16 lakh from job seekers for the posts of TTEs and mazdoor in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam. The FIR says that Pandey, a section officer in the pay and accounts division of RITES in Gurgaon, had sent a proposal through Abdul Nabhi, a resident of Ramagundam, to A. Narasimhulu and 13 others that he would get them jobs in the Railways under the chairman's quota using his influence.
He demanded Rs 5 lakh from each candidate. Of this Rs 1 lakh has to be paid immediately and the remaining after getting the job. All the job seekers paid and Rs 16 lakh was deposited in Pandey’s account. The complainants, A. Narasi-mhulu, P. Malleshwar Rao, P. Surya Narayana, D. Narendra Babu, G. Mallu Naidu, P. Appa Rao, J. Srinu, D.G.S. Sanyai Rao, R. Chinna Rao, V. Rama Rao, Dhadi Narsimha Murthy, D. Nageshwar Rao, S. Siva Venkat, Jami Gowrish and S. Appala Naidu said that Pandey kept assuring them that the jobs would be forthcoming.
