CBI No' to Jisha murder probe

The court posted the case to December 7 for further hearing.

Kochi: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday opposed the plea filed by the Perumbavoor rape case victim Jisha’s father in the Kerala High Court seeking a CBI probe into the rape and murder case. The court sought the state government's stand on the issue. The CBI stated that the investigation was over and chargesheet was filed. So there was no need to conduct a further probe. The court posted the case to December 7 for further hearing.

The father of the victim, Jisha, argued that the chargesheet suffered from various flaws and would help the accused to get an easy acquittal. The Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court had dismissed the plea filed by him. He subsequently moved the HC seeking a CBI probe. The father claimed that the chargesheet submitted by the police against Assam native Ameerul Islam was not based on the post-mortem report. He argued that there were differences in the chargesheet and post-mortem report.

He made it clear that the victim being a fit and healthy person, the accused Ameerul Islam could not rape and kill her alone He came to know about the trial after the court issued the summons. He sought a probe into the instance of distributing water through the canal on the banks of which the victim and her mother used to stay. The police claim that the accused left his sandal and weapon near the crime scene was dubious, he said.
