Private hospital booked for negligence

Police exhumed the body of the stillborn child and a postmortem examination was conducted on the spot

Hyderabad: The Madhapur police registered a case against Ivy Leaf Hospital in Kondapur, after a woman who was six months pregnant developed bleeding and lost her baby due to alleged negligence of the hospital. The incident occurred two days ago and the family lodged a complaint late on Wednesday.

Police exhumed the body of the stillborn child and a postmortem examination was conducted on the spot. Police said they had seized the medical records and investigating the charge of negligence.

Police said that N.S.S.M.P. Chowdhary had taken his wife Mounika Divya who was complaining of severe pain to the hospital. The duty doctor was not present and an on-duty nurse contacted the doctor over phone and on his instructions gave an injection and IV to the woman.

A few minutes later, Divya developed severe bleeding and the foetus was aborted.
