Four arrested for growing ganja on terrace
HYDERABAD: Four persons were held by Kulsumpura police for cultivating marijuana on the terrace of their building in Jiyaguda late Wednesday night.
According to police, the prime accused Jitender Singh (22), along with his friends Sandeep Sahu (32), K. Sachin (18) and K. Dattatriya (32) was growing marijuana on the terrace adjacent to his penthouse in Durga Nagar, Jiyaguda. Jitender, Sachin and Dattatriya work as cab drivers while Sandeep is a private employee, said police officials.
“It was revealed during enquiry that the gang regularly consumes ganja and is also addicted to alcohol. We recovered 14 saplings, two of which were above six feet in height,” said inspector in Kulsumpura police station, P. Shankar.
The gang revealed that they were cultivating the contraband for their own consumption and not for selling them.
Cases were booked against them under relevant sections of the NPDS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act and they were placed under arrest.
