Hyderabad: 53-year-old transports ganja, held

Hyderabad: The West Zone Task Force team apprehended a 53-year-old man who was transporting ganja and seized 3 kg of the contraband along with a bike and a phone on Wednesday.

The accused, identified as Prakash Singh, 53, was a washerman by profession and was residing at Sun City in Bandlaguda, police said. “As his earnings were not sufficient to meet his expenses, he met one Bharath Singh, 33, a ganja supplier and upon his advice started selling the drug. Bharath paid him Rs 500 each day. He was earlier arrested by the Langer House police in 2016 and was remanded to judicial custody,” said the DCP, Commissioner’s Task Force, P. Radhakrishna Rao.

After being released, he did not find a job. He again contacted Bharath and started peddling drugs for the same wage. On Tuesday, he was given 3 kg ganja by Bharath and was instructed to pack the same in sachets and sell them for Rs 800 to Rs 1,000 per sachet.

“On Wednesday, as he came near Ramalayam in Bapughat, the West Zone Task Force team nabbed him he was handed over to Langer House police for further investigation,” said the official, adding that efforts are on to nab Bharath as well.
