Hyderabad: A youth tried to steal a laddu from the hands of a Ganesh idol in Neredmet on Monday night. However, he fled after the organisers saw him, but was captured by a CCTV camera installed at the pandal. Police is investigating. The Navayuga Youth Association in Sainadhapuram set up a 10 feet tall Ganesh idol. There were two laddus in the pandal. The main laddu weighed 16 kg and the other laddu around 1.5 kg. On Monday, after bhajans and cultural activities, they closed the pandal.
One boy named Sidhu,who was sleeping in the pandal, heard some noise and found a man taking away the laddu. “Sidhu raised an alarm and by the time others woke up the suspect saw them and ran out of the pandal with the laddu,” Mr B. Balaji Goud, one of the organisers said. When the boys chased him, he dropped the laddu on the ground and fled, joined another man who was waiting for him on a scooter and sped away. Police registered an attempt to theft case. CCTVs installed in the pandal recorded the episode.
