Telangana: Man held for torturing wife

A Central government employee, who suspected his wife's fidelity, forced her to undergo a medical test.

Hyderabad: A Central government employee, who suspected his wife’s fidelity, forced her to undergo a medical test after she complained of ill health and refused to have sexual intercourse. Police said that when the man came to know that the victim was having an infection in her privates he started harassing her saying that she was having illicit relationships and physically attacked her. He also branded her with a heated knife on both her thighs.

Police said Bhukya Ravi, 35, who is working as senior manager in a Central government agency married the woman in 2008 while she was still a minor. The woman went to her parents house in Warangal district but he followed her there and a complaint was registered at the Thorrur police station. But after counselling he agreed that he will take care of her and brought her back to Hyderabad, police said.

But he started harassing her again and even assaulted her once with a rolling pin. She suffered a severe head injury and had three stitches for that. Meanwhile, the torture increased and she fell sick. He took her to a clinic and the doctor said she had urinary infection. After knowing this, Ravi started harassing her more saying that she was having affair with someone else.

Unable to bear this torture, she and her two kids left home three days ago without informing. Ravi infor-med her parents but they were clueless. The next day, he lodged a missing complaint and a case was registered. “When he brought her to Hyderabad, we inquired about the reason for her going missing and she detailed how her husband had been torturing her,” said SI Shoban. The police has filedcase under sections 498-A, 324 and 506 of IPC were registered against Ravi.
