HYDERABAD: The Chaitanyapuri police booked CID superintendent of police Kishan Singh for stalking a senior accountant of the southern discom (TSSPDCL). According to police, Singh, who took charge a month back, was harassing the woman by sending her videos of romantic songs on Whatsapp and insisting on a relationship.
The victim lodged a police complaint against Singh on Saturday. She mentioned that when Singh was posted as additional DSP in the Armed Reserve in 2020, he had approached her when she was preparing for the national inter-department sports event at the Saroornagar stadium and asked her to attend training sessions, Chaitanyapuri inspector B. Nagarjuna said.
The complainant stated that she gave him her mobile number because he kept pestering her. Since then, Singh had been sending the songs and uncensored videos. He also urged her to send her pictures wearing saris, Nagarjuna said.
She stopped responding to his calls and ignored his videos for one year. A few months back she called Singh when she had met with an accident in Hayathnagar police station limits and sought his help, police said. He met her and insisted on beginning a friendship with a hug. On her refusal, he said he would not help her.
“I respected him for his position. As an officer of his standing was behaving indecently with me and kept harassing me mentally, I approached the police to put an end to this trauma. It is officers like Singh, who are bringing disrepute to TS police. I urge the DGP Anjani Kumar, Rachakonda police commissioner D.S. Chauhan and other senior officials to thoroughly investigate the case and take action against Singh,” the complainant said.
According to reliable police sources, while serving as an inspector in Ranga Reddy, Singh was arrested in 2007 for murdering a surrendered woman Maoist, with whom he allegedly had a relationship, when she insisted on marriage. Police had arrested Singh and his accomplices. He was allegedly involved in similar cases in Vanasthalipuram, police sources said.
“Based on the woman's complaint, we registered a case (630/2023) under section 354 (D) of IPC (repeatedly approaching a woman when she is not interested) and are investigating,” Nagarjuna said.
Meanwhile, police collected videos, screen shots and audio messages as technical evidence from the complainant's mobile phone, police sources said.
