Police special teams on lookout for loan recovery agents

Vijayawada: Police special teams are on the lookout for loan recovery agents for the suicide of a 17-year-old girl in Kammavaripalem of Nandigama mandal in NTR district.

Nandigama ACP Nageswara Reddy said, “We have booked the accused under section 306 of IPC and our special teams would arrest them.”

Haritha Varshini who completed her intermediate education ended her life on July 28, leaving a suicide note, stating that the loan recovery agents insulted the family for failing to repay the loan worth Rs 3.50 lakh raised by her father Jasth Prabhakar Rao.

Rao worked in a private firm in Delhi some time ago.

In her note, she asked her mother to excuse her and take care of her younger sister and father.

Rao was availing loans through SBI credit card for the last one and half year. When the outstanding due was at Rs 3.50 lakh, recovery agents visited his house in his absence and asked the family members to clear the loan. The agents reportedly abused Rao for not clearing the loan.

The girl felt hurt and resorted to the extreme step. In her note, she said she had become a burden on the family. The family was trying to support her to pursue her studies and she wanted to give them some relief. She wanted to pursue medicine.
