Chennai: Fire breaks out at sweet shop in Mylapore

Three fire tenders from stations at Mylapore, Royapettah and Teynampet were pressed into service.

Chennai: A minor fire broke out a famous sweet shop in Mylapore on Monday morning. At least three fire tenders were at the spot to douse the raging flames.

There was no report of any casualty, police said. According to the police, the locals noted black smoke emanating from the kitchen of the Sri Krishna Sweets shop, located at Venkatesa Agraharam Rd, near Saibaba temple in Mylapore at around 8: 30 am.

They immediately informed the nearby police station and the fire station about the fire. Police personnel from Mylapore station arrived at the spot.

Three fire tenders from stations at Mylapore, Royapettah and Teynampet were pressed into service.

The official said that they managed to bring the fire under control within 30 minutes.

The cause of the fire is being investigated but prima facie the fire seems to have erupted due to an electrical short circuit in the AC.

Luckily, no one was inside the stall as it was shut on early morning and consequently, no injuries were reported. The Mylapore police registered a case and investigastions are underway.
