Crime Branch to probe Vinayak death
The police had allegedly questioned him for growing long hair and threatened to book him for chain snatching.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Police Chief Loknath Behera has ordered the Crime Branch (CB) to probe the death of Vinayak who allegedly committed suicide after being released by Pavaratty police. The probe responsibility has been transferred from Vadanappally police station to CB. Earlier, two civil police officers, Sajan and Sreejith were suspended in connection with the alleged torture of the youth in custody.
Vinayak, 19 son of Krishnan of Engandiyur, Thrissur was on a bike with his friend Sararth when he was picked up by a patrol party. The youth, a beautician was spotted talking to a female friend near Madukkara at Mullaserry. The police had allegedly questioned him for growing long hair and threatened to book him for chain snatching.
