Bengaluru: Pub raided for selling drugs, playing loud music

As per the rules, pub can stay open till 1 am, but the party was on even at 3 am. The raid was conducted at 3.30 am, an official said.

Bengaluru: The Bellandur police raided a pub for playing loud music after permissible hours and arrested 10 people, including an African DJs.

The raid was carried out at Sharaab Factory pub located in Bangalore Central Mall, early Saturday, following information that loud music was being played and drugs were supplied to those attending the party. Ismail Elhag Adam of Sudan has been arrested on charges of drug peddling, while pub owner, Chidambaram, and nine staff members were arrested. The police seized 1.2 kg ganja found on the premises. DJ consoles and speakers were also seized.

“As per the rules, pub can stay open till 1 am, but the party was on even at 3 am. The raid was conducted at 3.30 am,” an official said.

The pub had circulated messages through WhatsApp that it was organising a Special Friday in which DJs will perform from 11 pm to 5 am. They had also offered liquor at cheap prices. The message was circulated to select customers and more than 300 people, majority of them Africans, turned up, the police added.

The Bellandur police have registered a case.
