Retired income tax officer held by Chennai police

Chennai: The city police on Friday arrested a retired income tax officer at Palavakkam for possession of fake currency notes at his house.

The crime came to light when accused Nagasubramanian on Friday morning left to buy milk from a shop near his house at Palavakkam. According to police, when he gave the shopkeeper Rs 100 and left, the owner sensed something fishy and immediately alerted the police. Following this, a team conducted inquiries and after confirmation, the cops launched a hunt to find Nagasubramanian.

A few hours later, when he was found the police found Nagasubramanian's answers contradictory and immediately raided his house on East Coast Road.”During the raid, 120 notes of Rs 100 and 89 notes of Rs 50 were found at his house,” said the investigating officer.According to preliminary investigations, Nagasubramanian worked in the income tax department in Delhi and settled in Chennai after retirement.
