Kevin murder case: SI had no role in my security, reiterates CM Pinarayi Vijayan

Mr Vijayan also reiterated his stance that the SI had no role in his security ring during his visit there.

Kollam: There were serious lapses on the part of Gandhi Nagar sub-inspector in the Kevin murder case, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan here on Tuesday. "But there is an attempt to politicise the issue," he said, criticising the media at a public meeting as part of LDF government’s second anniversary here. “I'm not a drum for television channels to beat on. It was the people who elected me, and not them.”

He also said the parents of the girl (Neenu, the widow of Kevin) tied the knot in a love marriage. “They should have remembered that (while dealing with the issue),” he said. Mr Vijayan also reiterated his stance that the SI had no role in his security ring during his visit there.

“The incident in connection with the murder of Kevin took place at night. The SI who came to know of the incident took no action as per procedure. It was not because he went to provide security to the chief minister,” he said. “There is a deliberate attempt to exonerate those who have made a mistake and to blame the chief minister. I am not ignorant of how to answer your questions. We have had debates several times before,” he said.
