Telangana: 50-year-old man in coma after accident
Hyderabad: A 50-year-old man from Jagtial is in coma after an accident at his workplace in Malaysia. The victim, Soma Narsaiah Rajaiah, who was forced to work in an aluminium factory by his agent, is now in a Malaysian hospital. His relatives have approached the NRI Cell seeking help. Indian embassy officials informed Rajaiah’s family that HUKM Hospital in Kuala Lumpur is treating him in its IC unit. The officials also said their representatives are in touch with doctors.
Rajaiah’s relatives said he had gone to Malaysia a year ago with a visa agent’s help who had promised him a job in a supermarket. The agent took Rs 60,000 from Narsaiah for the visa. “But when Narsaiah reached Malaysia he was forced to work in an aluminium factory where work conditions were extremely hazardous. The agent also took away his salary as his commission,” said S.K. Chand Pasha, a social worker, who is following up the case with the NRI Cell and Indian Embassy.
Two months ago, Rajaiah’s phone stopped working. His relatives could not get his details for weeks. Later, they came to know that he was in hospital. They are still trying to find how the accident happened at Rajaiah’s workplace.
