Hyderabad: An engineering final year student who trespassed into a hut and molested a 55-year-old woman while she sleeping was arrested by the Malkajgiri police on Monday. The accused, Arpula Karthik, 21, was caught.
The victim along with her husband hailing from Nagarkurnool district had migrated to the city for livelihood. The couple was working on daily wages and was living in a hut at Gayathrinagar. The incident took place at about 2 am when the couple was sleeping in the hut.
The victim told the police that she woke up when she felt someone touching her. She immediately noticed the stranger who was touching her in intimate places and raised an alarm. She and her husband tried to catch the molester but he managed to escape.
Based on the victim’s complaint, the Malkajgiri police registered a case and nabbed the accused on Monday.
Malkajgiri police said that during the scuffle at the victim’s house, the suspect’s mobile phone fell down. He did not notice it while escaping. Based on the evidence, he was traced and nabbed at Chandabagh in Moula Ali. A Malkajgiri police official said that he was drunk when he randomly entered the hut in which the victim and her husband were sleeping.
