Bengaluru: Forest department employee held for blackmailing woman
Bengaluru: A 30-year-old employee of the Health Department has filed a complaint with the Vidhana Soudha police, accusing a ‘D’ Group employee of the forest department of blackmailing her by threatening to post her nude photographs on the net.
Following the complaint, the police arrested C. Krishna, 52, a resident of Vyalikaval. He was remanded in judicial custody and was later released on bail.
According to her complaint, the woman, who works as a stenographer in the Health & Family Welfare Department at Vikasasoudha, alleged that the accused had extorted Rs 4.76 lakh from her since 2013.
She has alleged that Krishna had shown her a few nude and semi nude pictures of her and threatened her that he would make the photos public by making them viral on internet. He had also threatened that he would show the photographs to her colleagues.
“By blackmailing her, he had allegedly extorted Rs 4.76 lakh by cash and cheque on several occasions. Also, he allegedly forcing her for sexual favours promising to marry her.
Besides, he has allegedly taken a 35 gram gold chain (mangalsutra) from the complainant, who is married. He allegedly threatened her against filing any police complaint. He had allegedly shown her nude photos and videos to some of her colleagues, thereby causing humiliation and mental harassment. Based on these allegations, the accused was arrested,” the police added.
The woman has also accused her colleague, Sumalatha Devan, who hails from Kalaburagi, of taking her nude photos. “Sumalatha is a contract employee working in the Health & Family Welfare Department. She was staying with the complainant in a PG accommodation a few years ago and she allegedly took the nude photos and videos of the complainant and gave it to Krishna. We are yet to question Sumalatha,” the police said.
The police also suspect that the complainant and Krishna were in a relationship earlier and the photos were taken during that period. Further investigations are on.
