ED to write to Cyberabad police seeking details of data theft case

HYDERABAD: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials, who registered cases against five accused for data theft are likely to write to the Cyberabad police seeking information about the case and an FIR copy.

The Cyberabad police have registered cases and arrested Nitish Bhushan, Puja Kumari, Susheel Tomar, and Atul Pratap Singh among others.

Based on the Cyberabad police FIR, the ED officials have initiated action and would take up the investigation. The ED also suspects money laundering in the case.

The accused also put up the data for sale by posting it on websites.

The ED officials would also file a petition before the court for questioning the accused who are still in jail in Hyderabad. To get more details, the ED officials are all set to get an FIR copy and case details in connection with the data theft.

A few days ago, the Cyberabad police conducted raids and arrested five accused of indulging in data theft and selling it for business activities. It was reported that the miscreants stole data of at least 16 crore individuals and businessmen including central and state government senior officials.
