Mancherial: Six held while trying to sell leopard skin, teeth, nails

The accused are Pendem Ramesh, Pendam Vasanth, Allam Dilip, Porthati Nagesh, Porthati Suresh, Porthati Anil, and Allam Vignesh.

Mancherial: Ramagundam CCS police on Friday arrested six persons involved in killing a leopard, skinning and trying to sell the skin and its nails to prospective buyers.

Police said another six accused were absconding and they were searching for them. The accused erected a live electric wire targeting the leopard in the forest area with the intention to make huge money by sell its parts and skin.

Giving details about the incident, Ramagundam police commissioner V. Satyanarayana said, the accused killed the leopard by electrocution in the forest area of Bondra village in Regunta mandal of Sironcha in bordering Maharashtra.

The police seized the skin, 12 nails, three teeth, binding wire and sharp knives when the accused were bringing them to Alam Raju of Neelavi in Chennur mandal in Mancherial district by crossing the river Pranhitha. The police took the accused into their custody a few days ago and produced them before the media today. The accused are Pendem Ramesh, Pendam Vasanth, Allam Dilip, Porthati Nagesh, Porthati Suresh, Porthati Anil, and Allam Vignesh.

Additional DCP (administration) N. Ashok Kumar, additional DCP (law and order) Ravi Kumar, and CCS CIs Venkateshwarlu, Srinivas, SI Kiran were present.
