BENGALURU: A woman murdered her lover by mixing sleeping pills in his food and later smashing his head with the grinder stone for misbehaving with her 13-year-old daughter in Doddabidarakallu Peenya police station limits on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Raghu, 33, a resident of Dasarahalli. He was having an affair with the accused, Roopa, 32, a resident of Annapurneshwarinagar, for the past five years.
Raghu used to often visit Roopa’s house, but of late he was talking inappropriately about her daughter. This had strongly upset Roopa and she decided to kill him.
Roopa, who hailed from Hassan, had married Prabhu 15 years ago and later shifted to the city. The couple resided in Annapurneshwarinagar along with their two children.
Prabhu was previously working with Raghu at a garment factory and the two became friends. Raghu later joined another garment factory, where he became friends with Prabhu’s wife, Roopa. The two started having an affair.
Roopa later quit her job as she was suffering from diabetes and Raghu started visiting her frequently while her husband was away at work.
Raghu began talking inappropriately and misbehaving her minor daughter and even told Roopa that he wanted to sleep with her.
Two days ago, when Prabhu had gone to Tiptur, Raghu began visiting them during night and he once misbehaved with Roopa’s daughter.
The two had a fight over the issue and Roopa warned him to stay away from her daughter.
On Wednesday, Raghu continued to misbehave with her daughter and Roopa decided to kill him. She mixed sleeping pills with his food. After he fell asleep around 1:30 am, she tied his hands and legs with a rope and slit his throat with the kitchen knife.
She also cut his ears, but since the kitchen knife was not sharp, he was still alive. She then smashed his head using a grinder stone until she was sure he was dead. Unconfirmed reports say Raghu allegedly used to carry sleeping pills along with him while visiting Roopa’s house. They used to mix the pills in the
food of Roopa’s children to prevent them from finding out about their affair.
Investigations revealed that Raghu had recorded her videos and photos
and had been blackmailing her to extort money. The Peenya police have registered a case and arrested Roopa on Thursday.
