Head constable suspended for misbehaving with minor girl
TIRUPATI: A police head constable has been suspended after being booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly misbehaving with a minor girl.
The suspended cop has been identified as Sudhakar, working at Chittamur Police Station in Nellore district.
According to reports reaching here, a father and daughter had gone to Chittamur Police Station seeking help to solve a problem. When they contacted head constable Sudhakar, he suggested to the father that counselling his minor girl will solve the problem. The head constable then asked the father to bring his daughter to his (Sudhakar’s) house the next day.
When the father and daughter went to Sudhakar’s house the next day, he sent the father to a shop. The head constable then allegedly tried to sexually assault the girl. As he had reportedly warned the girl not to inform anyone about the matter, the girl remained silent at the time. But she later told the family what had happened, sources said.
“Based on the complaint lodged by the girl’s parents, a case has been registered against head constable Sudhakar. He has been placed under suspension, booked under POCSO and sent to remand,” Nellore SP Ch. Vijaya Rao said in a statement on Tuesday.
In a separate case, another head constable working at Disha police station, identified as Subrahmanyam, has been suspended for taking away some records from the police station and trying to place them back on coming to know that an inquiry has been ordered. A home guard, who had helped the head constable, has been sent on voluntary retirement.
