Kerala: Block pirated movie website, centre urged

Hence the state police sought the Centre's intervention.

Thiruvananthapuram: The state police has sought the help of the Centre in blocking a website offering pirated copies of new films. Though cyber experts at its Cyberdome could block many such sites, a particular one hosted in Europe has been using advanced security features, making it difficult for the cyber experts to block it. Hence the state police sought the Centre's intervention.

Malayalam movie Parava and Tamil movie Velaikaran are among their latest offerings. Cyberdome nodal officer and Thiruvananthapuram-range IG Manoj Abraham said the police had sought the Centre to give a directive to the internet service providers.

“We had earlier recommended blocking of many sites for pornographic and objectionable contents. But it is for the first time that we are forced to suggest blocking a site for offering pirated copies of movies,” he said. The state police had sent the formal request to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in this regard the other day.
