3 youths have close shave as car falls into Hussainsagar
HYDERABAD: Three youngsters had a miraculous escape when the car they were travelling went out of control and fell into Hussainsagar on Sunday morning. The car swirled over the footpath and hit the railing before it partially sank into the lake. Local residents who were present at the spot swung into action and saved the trio. They sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment.
According to the police, P. Nithin, 20, a final year degree student, who was behind the wheels, was allegedly deprived of sleep and lost control over the vehicle. Nithin, along with two other friends, were reportedly heading towards Telugu Talli flyover from P.V. Marg when the mishap occurred at 6:30 am on Sunday, said Saifabad police inspector Saidi Reddy.
“The trio, all residents of Khairatabad, were passing the NTR Garden junction when Nithin lost control over the vehicle, crashed into the footpath and rammed the car into the railing, following which the rear end of the car ended up in the water. The car’s front part was also damaged in the accident. Within minutes, the locals who were present there rescued the trio from the car and alerted the police through dial 100,” said the inspector, adding that Nithin had a driver’s license.
The police official said following a complaint, cases were booked under sections 336 (rash or negligent driving as to endanger human life or the personal safety of others) and 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) of the IPC. The youngsters were admitted to a hospital for treatment and their statement would be recorded once they were discharged from the hospital, said the police.
