Hyderabad: 3 arrested for stealing cellphones
Hyderabad: The Narayanguda police nabbed a gang of three members, including two students, who snatched cellphones from pedestrians at night.
The police identified the men as Pothula Aravind, 20, a private employee, and two students Jevadi Karthik, 19, and Ganjji Vikas, 19.
The arrests were made following a complaint on November 24, from Rathlavath Mothilal, 34, stating that while he was sleeping in his autorickshaw near TTD Temple at Himayathnagar, Aravind snatched the cellphone from his hands and fled from the spot on a scooter towards Himayatnagar Y Junction, said Abids ACP G. Biksham Reddy.
“During investigation, the Narayanaguda police visited the crime scene and collected CCTV footage from the surrounding areas and identified the men and arrested them on Wednesday. Aravind is an ex-offender who was involved in 10 cases in Rachakonda Commissionerate limits. He was earlier involved in a dacoity case, six robbery cases, one extortion, one snatching case and one house theft in LB Nagar, Hayathnagar, Chaitanyapuri and Saroornagar,” said the official.
Pothula Aravind has been arrested in two chain snatching cases in Narayanaguda and Sultan Bazaar while Jevadi Karthik was arrested in four chain snatching cases, two in Narayanguda and one in Sultan Bazaar.
Ganji Vikas has been arrested in two cases in Narayanguda and Malakpet.
