BENGALURU: A year after she was allegedly sexually harassed by her team leader, a 22-year-old software engineer has filed a police complaint.
The Bellandur police, who have registered an FIR, are investigating whether there is truth in the allegations made by the complainant.
The alleged incident took place on November 19, 2016. The complainant, who had started working with a software company located at RMZ Ecospace at Bellandur in June 2016, stated in her complaint that the company had organised an event at their office on November 19, 2016. During the event, between 10 pm and 10.30 pm, her team leader allegedly misbehaved with her by touching her waist and back.
“The complainant has stated that she immediately reported the matter to the management and filed a complaint against him. The officials of the company, who conducted an internal inquiry, gave a clean chit to the team leader. Now, she has approached us. As per her complaint, we have registered an FIR,” an official said.
“As the incident took place more than a year ago, we will have to find out whether the complaint is genuine. We will ask the employees concerned to provide details of the complaint filed by the woman and the details of their internal inquiry. Based on that, we will decide the further course of investigation,” the official said.
