Benguluru: Rider dies as bike crashes into lorry
BENGALURU: A 23-year-old youth, who was triple riding on a bike with his two friends, died on the spot, while his friends sustained injuries when their bike collided head-on with a tipper lorry near Karahalli in Vishwanathapura police limits early on Tuesday.
The incident occurred because of heavy fog, which had reduced visibility. Both the riders and the lorry driver failed to notice the approaching vehicle and caused the accident, the police said.
The deceased, Rakesh, hailed from Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. His friends Rakesh and Chiranjeevi survived with minor injuries. All three worked at a private company.
They were on their way to the Nandhi Hills to watch the sunrise. As they reached Karahalli, their bike collided with the lorry. “There was heavy fog in the morning. You could hardly see anything coming your way. The headlights of both the bike and lorry were off which made the things worse. The rider died on the spot, while two of his friends who sustained minor injuries were rushed to a nearby hospital," the police said.
