Bomb-maker ran library in Tamil Nadu
Hyderabad: The NIA’s Hyderabad unit on Monday arrested six terror suspects of the Al-Qaida-inspired group called Base Movement for carrying out bomb blasts in court complexes across South India for planning to target Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The bomb maker was identified as Abbas who ran a library, ‘Darul Ilm’ at Madurai. Ayub Khan worked as a public liaison officer for a hearing aid company. Shamshum Karawa owned a chicken broiler shop at Kanni-mara Koil in Madurai.
Abbas, Karawa and Kareem were involved in the blasts in AP courts. The arrested persons will be produced before local courts in Chennai and Madurai seeking transit remand to transferr them to the NIA special court at Hyderabad where the Mysuru blast case was registered. The parents of the three youths told reporters at the district court on Monday evening that Abdul Kareem and Ayub Khan were good friends and they had gone to the DRO Colony mos-que on Sunday evening.
The group called itself Base Movement, which is the meaning of Al-Qaeda, and was formed on January 26, 2015. Its letter pads had the picture of Osama bin laden. Investigators said the group wanted take revenge against the cour-ts for the hanging of Afzal Guru and Yakub Memon and the alleged inaction in the Alair police encounter where terror suspects Vikar-uddin and four others were killed. Their aim was to instill fear among the judiciary to prevent convictions of terrorists.
