Kurnool: Six persons were arrested on Sunday for cricket betting near the minority colony in Adoni town.
During raids conducted in the town limits, police confiscated Rs 1.80 lakh in cash, six mobile phones, and six containers from them.
Adoni DSP J. Siva Narayana Swamy said that a case has been registered and is being investigated. Circle inspector Vikram Simha and other staff members participated in the raids.
Boy missing from Kolimigundla village
A 13-year-old boy, Gogula Praveen, from Bandarlapalle village in Kolimigundla mandal, has been missing since Saturday.
Kolimigundla sub-inspector Ramesh Reddy said on Sunday that Gogula Praveen had attended school on Saturday but did not return home in the evening. His parents searched for him but could not find him. His father, Gogula Ramachandra, then approached the police for help. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
Couple dies by suicide
A couple died by suicide at Bommagundahalli village in Holagunda mandal late on Saturday night, with the incident coming to light on Sunday morning.
According to police, Renuka, 20, married Raju, 27, from Gulyam village in Halaharvi mandal two years ago. After the conclusion of Dasara, Raju arrived at Bommagundahalli to bring his wife back along with him. Preliminary investigation revealed that they quarreled over some issue.
“We have launched an investigation into the incident but prima facie it appears that the couple died by suicide on Saturday night,” Holagunda sub-inspector Srinivas said. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC. Further probe is on.
Man dies trying to alight from moving train
A man died on Sunday while trying to alight from a moving train at Dhone railway station.
Ramalingachari, a resident of Kona Uppalapadu village in Yadiki mandal, Anantapur district, attempted to deboard the train before it came to a halt on the platform. He lost his balance and got stuck between the platform and the train, suffering critical injuries. He died on the way to the hospital.
Railway police registered a case and are investigating.
