Three dead in Chennai road accidents
CHENNAI: Three men died in two different accidents that happened in the city outskirts on Sunday morning. Police said R Soorya (20), a resident of Konerikuppam in Chengalpattu a second year polytechnic student, was travelling with his friend Y.Pratap (20) from Karumpakkam. “The duo were on their way to Soorya’s residence at Konerikuppam, when the duo was near the Mullivakkam on Thiruporur - Chengalpattu high road, Soorya who was riding the bike lost control, hit a tree and fell down,” said a police officer.
Since the duo was not wearing helmets and they were going at high speed, both were thrown out. Pa ssersby alerted the ambulance and the men were taken to the Chengalpattu government hospital wh ere they were declared dead on arrival.
The Chengalpattu Taluk police registered a case and further investigations are on. Similarly, a mishap took place around 8 am on Sunday when Saravanan (23), a resident of Sholavaram, was travelling with his friend Aakash (21) towards Chennai.
Police said when they were near the MGR statue on GNT Road at Puzhal, a speeding truck rammed their bike from behind. The truck driver parked the truck and fled the spot leaving the trio in a pool of blood.
Saravanan who was riding pillion died on the spot and the body was sent to Stanley government hospital for post-mortem.
The Madhavaram traffic investigation police rushed the badly injured Akash to a private hospital nearby. A case was registered and the search for the lorry driver who fled the spot is on.
