Bengaluru: Two days after a viral sleazy video showing the seer of Maddevanapura Mutt near Hunasamaranahalli in Yelahanka Dayananda swami in a compromising position allegedly with a small time Kannada actress, Srishaila Mutt head Sri Channasiddarama Panditaradhya Mahaswami has ousted the tainted swami from his post.
The controversy over the two-year-old sex video which became viral after it was released to the media, already had brought huge embarrassment to the 500-year-old Mutt with hundreds of people gathering outside the Math to protest. The Maddevanapura math is a branch of the Srishaila Peetha, one of the Pancha peethas of Lingayat community.
Dayananda Swami
Sri Channasiddarama Panditaradhya Mahaswami held a closed-door meeting with the management before announcing the ouster of Dayananda swami, son of Parvatharaja Shivacharya Swami. Dayananda swami was the successor to his father’s post as the head of the Mutt which was being opposed by the local trust members and the villagers.
Mahaswami also formed a nine member panel to decide on the future of the Mutt. Based on their recommendations, a new seer will be appointed to the Mutt. Meanwhile, Dayananda swami and his family members have been asked to vacate the Mutt premises where they are residing now.

Meanwhile, a slugfest between the Dayananda swami’s supporters and opponents has erupted near the Mutt premises with the former claiming the tainted swami to be the victim of honey trapping.
A few of his supporters claimed that Praveen and Himachal had set-up the honey-trap, recorded the video and asked one Harish to blackmail him for money. The trio, his supporters claim, have taken over Rs. 40 lakh from Dayananda swami and have bought flat and car with the money. Meanwhile, Sri Channasiddarama Panditaradhya Mahaswami has said that the police would look into this angle and that he would not be commenting on it.
