Ruckus in Nellore Council meeting
Nellore: The Nellore Municipal Corporation Council meeting hall turned into a war zone as an YSRC corporator manhandled a TD corporator during a debate on removing dwellings on the canals passing through Nellore on Friday.
The TD Corporator Prasanth fell flat on the ground after the 54th division YSRC Corporator, Devarakonda Ashok rushed towards him and kicked him on the face even before the other members realised what was happening.
Even as YSRC members were trying to control him, Ashok went berserk and wrenched a mike to attack TD members who came to the rescue of Prasanth, Corporator of 51st Division.
Armed with a twisted mike in hand, Ashok was seen threatening TD members who tried to come towards him.
The unwarranted incident resulted in utter chaos in the house with TD members led by Dr Z. Sivaprasad demanding the Mayor S.K. Abdul Azeez to suspend the member.
Visibly angry with the incident, the Mayor was seen pulling up YSRC floor leader Roopkumar Yadav for such incidents during every council meeting. He ordered for the dismissal of the YSRC member besides filing a criminal case.
The meeting witnessed heated arguments over allotment of reserved open sites as compensation and also for construction of buildings.
Earlier, the Mayor had also faced some unpleasantness when a large number of sanitary workers protesting against a GO related to their jobs before the Corporation resisted him from entering the office.
The Mayor almost fell down, after the protestors pulled him down when he was proceeding towards the door but his aides saved him from the sliding down.
