Hyderabad: Rachakonda police on Friday sealed Highway Bawarchi Hotel as the management was organising gambling (card games) on the premises. On October 5, police raided the hotel and arrested 16 persons, including the owner of the hotel, Mohammed Saleem, who were gambling through card games in one of the hotel rooms and seized Rs 2,37,500.
Police found that Saleem was involved in this illegal activity since many months and frequently organised gambling and betted huge amounts.
Based on the inquiry, Hayathnagar inspector submitted proposals to the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) of Ibrahimpatnam division.
Based on his order as per 133 CrPC, revenue officials and police sealed Highway Bawarchi Hotel on Friday.
Rachakonda police said this is the first time they are taking steps to seal premises where illegal activities like gambling and and sex working were being carried out. Recently five houses where prostitution was being organised were also sealed.
