Hyderabad: Property worth Rs 45 lakh looted

A case has been registered based on his complaint and an investigation launched, the inspector said.

Hyderabad: Burglars struck on the outskirts of the city on Thursday night and made way with property worth about Rs 45 lakh, including about 88 tolas of gold, from two houses at Alwal and Meerpet police stations.

Meerpet inspector N. Yadaiah said, realtor Satyanarayana, a resident of Badangpet, along with his family went to his relative’s house in Ganganpahad area on Thursday evening and stayed there overnight. On Friday morning, when he returned home, he saw that the lock of the main door was broken and about Rs 20 lakh cash and gold ornaments weighing about 12 tolas were stolen from the house.

A case has been registered based on his complaint and an investigation launched, the inspector said.

In two other incidents at Alwal, the houses of Nageshwar Rao and Avinash at Ganesh Nagar in Machabollaram and Venkatapuram, respectively, were targeted by burglers on Thursday night.

According to Alwal police, at 8.30 pm on Thursday, Nageshwar Rao and his family members went to invite his relatives for his daughter’s marriage, which is scheduled in October. At around 11 pm, when the family returned home, they found that the rear door of the house connecting the kitchen was broke and about Rs 6 lakh in cash and gold weighing around 50 tolas were missing from the house.

At Avinash’s house in Venkatapuram, the burglars gained entry through the main door of the house and took away about 20 tolas gold ornaments and half a kg of silver ornaments.

The family members were all sleeping on the first floor of the house, when the burglary took place, said the Alwal police, who registered a case of theft for the investigation.
