HYDERABAD: A private college bus ran over G. Sunita, 45, a GHMC sanitation worker, while she was at work in Ramkote at about 7.45 on Monday, killing her on the spot. The bus then hit a tree. Sunita was removing garbage from near the tree when the accident occurred.
The bus, carrying 12 students of the Ayaan Institute of Medical Sciences, was going at high speed. Four of the students suffered minor injuries.
It was claimed that bus driver Mohammed Gafoor alias Ghouse lost control over the vehicle while trying to avoid hitting an autorickshaw, Narayanguda sub-inspector Shaik Shafi said.
Following the accident there was a traffic jam on the road for over 40 minutes, however, Narayanguda traffic police managed to clear the traffic. Police seized the bus and booked Gafoor. City mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi Gadwal posted her condolence on X (formerly Twitter).
